2017 saw its colour of the year named by Pantone as Greenery, a vivid and zesty green that reflected freshness and new beginnings. But now, 2018’s colour of the year has now been named by the Pantone Colour Institute as Ultra Violet, a colour described by Pantone’s Executive Director, Leatrice Eiseman as one that ‘communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us towards the future’.

Historically, Ultra Violet is said to be linked to mystical and spiritual qualities, and it’s also associated with mindfulness and meditation practices.‘From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come’.

The colour also has links with music icons such as Jimi Hendrix, Prince, and David Bowie reflecting creativity, experimentation and rebellion.

The question is, will you be incorporating Ultra Violet into your home for 2018? Whether it’s a statement sofa or a few cushions, be brave, be bold, be Ultra Violet!
