Independent Gift Guide 2018 - Part 1 - Online
BY CHLOË GREEN
As consumers, we are becoming increasingly aware of what we buy & who we buy from and as a general trend, we’re moving away from buying quantity from large multinational companies and towards buying quality from independent businesses.
The ‘Just a Card’ campaign (justacard.org) was started 3 years ago and reinforces the message that all purchases, no matter how small, help independent businesses to survive. Even multinational company, Visa, have made the British high street the focus of their christmas advert this year (see here), with business owners singing Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’. What they say is true: ‘when you buy from a small business an actual person does a happy dance’.
We’ve put together a list of some gorgeous local Leicestershire & Rutland brands and businesses who we think you’ll love this festive season. Stay tuned for more coming soon...
