Emporium at 57: Not your average high street shop
On first glance, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Emporium at 57, on Wards End in Loughborough town centre is just another gift shop. But this charming little shop and it’s products have a deeper, meaningful purpose.
The shop was established to support the Loughborough Wellbeing Café Project, and sells a range of beautiful gifts, artwork and crafts, mostly created by talented local people. Profits made by the shop, are used to support the Wellbeing Café and means this priceless project is able to stay up and running.
Emporium at 57 also offers volunteering opportunities to café members, which is invaluable for members to gain useful skills and build their self-confidence.
The Loughborough Wellbeing Café Project
The Wellbeing Café Project offers a cafe service for adults who suffer with mental health problems in the Charnwood area. It was set up in October 2015, and provides people with a safe, supportive and welcoming place to go when other services are not available.
The project runs a weekly Wellbeing Café every Wednesday from 1-3pm at Loughborough Leisure Centre, and monthly on the first Friday of every month from 6-8pm at the rear of Loughborough Library on Packe Street.
Both cafés are open to adults aged 18 and over and offer a welcoming drop-in session with fun activities. You can join in with board games, yoga and arts & crafts, or sit and enjoy a hot drink in a friendly environment.
The Wellbeing Cafe Project has been nominated for National Lottery funding via The People’s Project. You can vote for them from today until midday on Monday 30th April 2018. Click HERE to show your support.
